FAQs

How can I schedule an appointment?

Contact us via our website, phone (call or text 812-914-6868), or e-mail (nuyucounseling@nuyucounseling.org) to set up a session at your convenience.

What are our office hours?

Each of our therapists have varying hours of practice. Our office is open Monday to Friday with hours ranging from morning to evening. Contact your specific provider to discuss individual hours of availability.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes! We accept several insurance plans; please check with your provider for coverage details.

What should I expect from my first session?

You will discuss your goals, concerns, and history while we establish a treatment plan tailored to you.

Is confidentiality guaranteed?

Absolutely. Your privacy is our priority, and all sessions are confidential as per professional standards.

How do I choose the right therapist?

Each of our therapists offer unique expertise and specialties. We consider the concerns you want help with, the therapist’s experience, schedules, and who you might feel comfortable opening up to. Contact NuYu Counseling for help exploring your options.

How often will I attend therapy?

Frequency depends on your needs, goals, and availability. You and your therapist will discuss a schedule and revisit it as your needs change.

How long will I need therapy?

There is no single timeline. Some people seek support for a specific concern, while others choose ongoing therapy to address deeper patterns or navigate different seasons of life.

Can I attend therapy on my own for relationship concerns?

Yes. Individual therapy can give you space to explore relationship patterns, communication, boundaries, and your own needs, even if your partner does not attend.

Do we have to be on the verge of separating to try couples therapy?

No. Couples therapy can help partners address recurring conflict, strengthen communication, rebuild connection, or navigate changes together.

How is children’s therapy different from adult therapy?

Children may express themselves through play, activities, and behavior more easily than through conversation alone. The approach depends on the child’s age, needs, and therapist’s training. Caregiver involvement is discussed as part of the process.

What if my therapist doesn’t feel like the right fit?

You can share your concerns with your therapist or contact NuYu Counseling to discuss other options. Finding a comfortable fit is an important part of the process.

What can therapy help with?

Therapy can help with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, parenting challenges, and life transitions. You can also come to therapy without knowing exactly what’s wrong.
